Terms of service

Last updated 2026-10-19

These terms are the contract for using Portuglot. The privacy policy explains personal data.

Who we are

Portuglot is published by Leduc IT OÜ, an Estonian private limited company (osaühing). Registry code 14574207. Registered address: Harju maakond, Tallinn, Lasnamäe linnaosa, Sepapaja tn 6, 15551, Estonia. The register entry is on the Estonian e-Business Register.

Contact [email protected].

The service

Portuglot is a European Portuguese (pt-PT) learning app for English speakers. A1 and A2 are ready. B1 to C2 are not ready yet. The apps are for iOS and Android. This website describes the course and has an email list. There is no learner app in the browser.

Portuglot is independent. It is not affiliated with Instituto Camões, CAPLE, AIMA, or the Portuguese government. It does not issue an official certificate, and it is not legal advice about residence or nationality.

Accounts and age

You need an account to keep progress. You can create one with email and a password, or with Google. The iOS app and the web log-in screen also show Sign in with Apple. You must be 13 or older. You are responsible for the activity on your account.

Subscriptions and automatic renewal

Two new lessons a day are free. Reviews, the placement check, and tests do not count toward that limit. Plus removes the limit on new lessons.

Plus is sold by Apple (the App Store) or Google (Google Play), not by us on this website. We do not take a card payment here.

  • Yearly is €69.99 a year, tax included, with a 7-day free trial. After the trial, the store charges the yearly price and renews the subscription each year until you cancel.
  • Monthly is €9.99 a month, tax included, with no trial. The store renews it each month until you cancel.

The store charges the payment method on your store account. Cancel in the App Store or in Google Play at least 24 hours before the period ends if you do not want the next charge. In the app, Settings has Manage subscription. That opens the store.

Deleting your Portuglot account does not cancel the subscription. Billing continues at Apple or Google until you cancel it there. You can still delete the account while it is billing. See the privacy policy.

Refunds and withdrawal

Apple or Google handles refunds and withdrawal for a subscription they sold. In the app, Settings has Request a refund. That opens the store's refund page. We cannot refund a store payment from this website.

Acceptable use

  • Use the service for your own learning.
  • Do not copy, sell, or republish the lessons, audio, or exercises.
  • Do not probe, overload, or disrupt the service, or try to read another person's account.
  • Do not use the service to break the law.

We may suspend an account that does these things. If we do, you can email [email protected].

Licence

The Portuglot code and the course content are proprietary. This repository does not publish an open-source licence for either of them. package.json marks the package as UNLICENSED. The repository states that the project is private, copyright Leduc IT, all rights reserved. There is no LICENSE file that grants the public a right to copy the code or the course.

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the apps for your own learning, for as long as these terms allow. You may not copy, sell, or publish the lessons, audio, exercises, or other course content.

The typefaces Figtree and Fraunces are included under the SIL Open Font License. Those licence texts ship with the fonts. That licence covers the fonts only, not the code and not the course.

The email list

Joining the list on this website is optional. We store the address so we can email you once when the apps are available. The privacy policy explains how to have it deleted.

Availability

We aim to keep the apps and the website working. We do not promise that they will be available all the time, or that a lesson will be free of mistakes. A live update can change the app between store releases. Your progress stays on the account.

Liability

To the extent Estonian law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by Apple, Google, a network, or a live update. Nothing in these terms limits liability that Estonian or EU consumer law does not allow us to limit, including liability for intent or gross negligence where that cannot be limited.

If you are a consumer in the EU, you keep the mandatory rights of the country where you live.

Estonian law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Estonia. The courts of Estonia have jurisdiction. That does not remove a consumer's right to bring a claim in the courts of their home country, or to use an EU dispute procedure that applies to them.

Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top changes. The new terms apply to use after that date. A subscription you already bought also follows the store's terms. The current text is always at https://portuglot.com/terms.
